Launch of New Bridge on the Miners Way Walking Trail

The NEW Bridge

The Miners Way is complete once more… a new footbridge has been put in place on the Arigna River which will take walkers safely across from Glen to Arigna. It replaces on older bridge which was washed away as a result of unprecedented rainfall and landslides in August 2008. The new bridge was funded by the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs with the work on the bridge been completed by the hard working Sligo LEADER Partnership Rural Social Scheme staff.

The new footbridge will be dedicated to Father Sean Tynan, former PP of Kilronan; in recognition for all his hard work on the Miners Way over the years.

The launch of the new bridge on the Arigna River will take place on Friday next 26th November at 2pm. The launch of the bridge is been carried out to coincide with the roll out of the walks scheme on the Miners Way and Historical Trail. The walks scheme is currently in operation on the Sligo Way.

A bus will be provided by CLASP but places are limited so if you wish to avail of the bus service please reply ASAP. The bus will depart from Geevagh at 1.30pm.

Warm clothes and suitable footwear are recommended. All welcome.
