Launch of National Trails Day 2011

Launch of National Trails Day 2011

National Trails Day takes place on Sunday 2nd October with a range of family friendly events taking place in Sligo and around the country. The aim of the National Trails Day is to encourage folks to be more active and explore the beautiful countryside of Ireland in which we live. This is a great opportunity for everyone to get out and experience our wonderful array of trails doted across our stunning Sligo countryside. This year we have something to suit every age and ability from walking to cycling, orienteering and kayaking events.

All events are free of charge and local sporting clubs and organisations are to be acknowledged for their voluntary effort in hosting the various events.

National Trails Day is being co-ordinated nationally by the Irish Sports Council National Trails Office, while locally it is supported by Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership, Sligo Leader Partnership Company, Sligo County Council, Coillte and Failte Ireland.
For further details on National Trails Day check out the National Trails Office website for events around the country on www.nationaltrailsday.ie or log onto www.sligosportandrecreation.ie.
