National Trails Day

Half Moon Bay Hazelwood

National Trails Day will take place on Sunday 3rd October. This is a great opportunity to get out and explore some of the great trails that have been developed across County Sligo in a variety of stunning locations around lakes, mountains and forest tracks.

Four walks are currently scheduled to take place in Sligo with something to suit all ages and abilities.

The following is a list of the walks where events are taking place locally for National Trails Day.

Hazelwood Half Moon Bay Walk. Duration 1 hour. Meet at Hazelwood carpark @ 2.30pm. Contact Deirdre Kennedy Rural Recreation Officer on 071 914138.

Union Wood Forest Walk. Duration 2 hours. Meet at white gates at entrance to Union Wood @ 3pm. Contact Paul Murray from Coillte on 086 8102020

Doorly Park All ability walk. Duration 1 hour. Meet at Sligo Co. Co. Carpark Riverside @ 2pm. Contact Shane Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership on 071 9161511.

Miners Way/Moytura Walk. Duration 2.5 hours. Meet at Highwood Community Centre @ 11.45am. Contact Peter O’Rourke Carrane Walking Club on 086 2206763.

Glencar 7km Scenic Walk. Duration 2.5 hours. Meet at 11.30am at Glencar Waterfall carpark. Contact Michael Mulligan Sligo Mountaineering Club on 087 3177799.

Sligo Way/Mount Taffe scenic walk. Duration 1.5 hours. Meet at 3pm at Largan Church over Lough Talt on the R294. Contact Michael Rochford Ox Mountain Development Company on 087 2246416.
