Support for Business Creation and Development

Before and After

Eligible Activities:

  • Sligo LEADER Partnership Business Creation at Olga Higgins Stained GlassSmall rural enterprise space
  • A range of assistance types for start-up enterprises and expansion of exisiting enterprises including the adoption of new technologies
  • Development of innovative products and activities
  • A range of assistance for adding value to local products, including support for business networks, collective marketing, local branding initiatives and improved quality and development of artisan processing facilities
  • Utilisation of local ICT capacity eg. Centralise processing of micro enterprise admin activities
  • Action to foster rural entrepreneurship, particularly combined with support for small scale R&D

Notes:

  • Sligo LEADER Partnership Business Creation at Benbulben potteryIn general an overall ceiling of €150,000 per project will apply but project caps will be strictly limited by available budget.
  • All projects are evaluated on a case by case basis
  • A project is only deemed fundable when it has gone through the application and evaluation procedure and has been issued with an official letter of offer
  • Projects are never funded retrospectively.
  • Other sources of public funding cannot be reckoned as matching funding. Any project which has already been in receipt of such funding is automatically ineligible for RDP support.
  • Formalised Community Groups can apply for a maximum of 75% grant aid
  • Private Promoters can apply for a maximum of 50% grant aid
  • Applications cannot be accepted from projects inside the Borough of Sligo town.
* In exceptional circumstances, and subject to prior written approval by the Department, grant aid up to €200,000 may be awarded.
**  In exceptional circumstances, and subject to prior written approval by the Department, grant aid up to  €500,000 may be awarded to private and non-commercial community projects respectively.
