West Sligo Walking Festival

The Discover Ennicrone West Sligo Walking Festival took place  24th – 26th September. The Itinerary for the festival was as follows:

Friday:  Schools Nature Walk to the Valley of Diamonds in Enniscrone with local expert along to speak about the flora in the area.  Time:  12 Noon.  Meeting Place:  Castlepark Enterprise Centre, Pier Road, Enniscrone.  Distance:   4k  Duration:  1.5hrs

Saturday:  Lough Easkey 6k Look Walk.  An expert guide will be on hand to speak about the flora in the area and why it’s designated as a Special Area of Conservation.  Time:  11am   Meeting place:  Castlepark Enterprise Centre, Pier Road, Enniscrone.  (Complimentary Transport provided.) (Alternative Meeting Place:  Lough Easkey Car Park at 11.30am). Distance 6k  Duration: 2.5 hrs.   

Saturday:  Enniscrone Castlefield Walk with local historian speaking about the heritage, history and folklore of the area.  Walk to include Valentines Church, the Caves and O’Dowds Castle.  With storytelling, face painting and family fun activities.  Time:  2pm.  Meeting place:  Castlepark Enterprise Centre, Pier Road, Enniscrone.  Distance:  1k Duration:  1 hrs. 

Saturday Night:  Waltzing competition in the Diamond Coast Hotel, Enniscrone from 9pm.

Sunday:  Enniscrone Pier and beach walk with lots of family fun activities.  Time: 2pm.  Meeting place:  Castlepark Enterprise Centre..  Distance: 5.5k  Duration:  2hrs – 2.5hrs
